Borrowing and Loans

All members of the Library can borrow material from the Library. Most books DVDs, videos and CDs can be borrowed but there are some items that are not available to borrow. These include:

All journals
XRef items – these are kept behind the counter
Quick Reference books – indicated by a red band around the spine
Any book marked as Reference – indicated by a yellow band around the spine.

Facilities in the Library

Enquiry Desk

There is an Enquiry Desk on the ground floor of the Library, situated to the side of the main Library Counter.

The Enquiry Desk is staffed by Subject Librarians and is open between 10am ñ 2pm each day.  You can use the Enquiry Desk to get help with more lengthy or complex enquiries, to get help in using the Library Online or with finding books, journals or other material in the Library for your coursework or research.

The Library Counter cannot provide help with these kinds of detailed enquiries.

Rules and Policies

Library code of conduct

Please treat the Library staff, Library resources and your fellow students with respect and:

• use the first floor for individual study without talking
• talk quietly downstairs: noise travels in the Library
• tidy your area when you have finished: put books on trolleys and recycle any waste paper in the bins provided
• put your mobile phone on silent and leave the Library to take or make a call
• do not bring food and drink into the Library
• do not carry out practical work in the Library

The Library must not be used as part of a project, for example for film, photography or drawing, without first obtaining permission from Library staff. Please ask at the counter for a request form.
