Membership of the Arts University Bournemouth Library is open to all AUB staff and students. We also extend membership other users including businesses based in the AUB Enterprise Pavilion, Bournemouth University students and staff and members of the public.

Borrowing and Loans

Your ID card serves as a Library membership card and can also be used for the photocopiers, printing and to add credit. The first time you borrow books must be through the Library counter to activate your account before you can use self service.

All members of the Library can borrow material from the Library. Most books DVDs, videos and CDs can be borrowed but there are some items that are not available to borrow. These include:

  • All journals
  • XRef items – these are kept behind the counter
  • Quick Reference books – indicated by a red band around the spine
  • Any book marked as Reference – indicated by a yellow band around the spine.

IT Facilities

A range of IT facilities are available to use in the Library,
including:

  • iMacs for Office/Photoshop/Internet access
  • PCs for Office/Photoshop/Internet access
  • A4 black and white printers for all iMacs/PCs
  • A4 colour printer for iMacs
  • A4 Scanning facilities on selected iMacs
  • Wi-fi connection throughout the Library

All IT facilities can be accessed using your AUB username and password.

Photocopiers

The Library has 5 black and white photocopiers and one colour copier available for use.

All copiers are network linked so operate by swiping your ID card or entering your username and password. Payment is made from users' printer credit account so no cash is required. There is a top-up machine in the Library to add credit to your printing account. Visitors to the Library can purchase a login card at the Library counter for use on the black and white photocopiers.

Library code of conduct

 

Please treat the Library staff, Library resources and your fellow students with respect and:

  • use the first floor for individual study without talking
  • talk quietly downstairs: noise travels in the Library
  • tidy your area when you have finished: put books on trolleys and recycle any waste paper in the bins provided
  • put your mobile phone on silent and leave the Library to take or make a call
  • do not bring food and drink into the Library
  • do not carry out practical work in the Library

The Library must not be used as part of a project, for example for film, photography or drawing, without first obtaining permission from Library staff. Please ask at the counter for a request form.

My Loans

Enter the barcode number from your library card to access your loans. Here you can view your current loans, fines and reservations as well as renewing items you have on loan.
